Dr R.J.Ranjit Daniels



Dr R J Ranjit Daniels graduated in Agriculture from the Tamil Nadu Agriculture University and was awarded a PhD Degree in Ecology by the Indian Institute of Science. He has travelled widely in India and abroad to pursue a career in ecology and conservation. He joined as a Post-doctoral Fellow at the Centre for Ecological Sciences, Indian Institute of Science to research on amphibian diversity and conservation in the Western Ghats. He was the ‘Honorary Secretary’ of the Chennai Snake Park Trust. Currently, he serves as a ‘Founder-Trustee’ of the Care Earth Trust.

Dr Daniels served on the editorial and peer-review committee of the United Nations Environmental Program led ‘Global Biodiversity Assessment’. In 2002 he was elected as ‘Fellow of the International Ornithologists Union’ in recognition of his work on conservation of birds. He has served as visiting/guest faculty to the Wildlife Institute of India, National Centre for Biological Sciences (M Sc Course in Wildlife Biology), Pondicherry University, Mangalore University and Bombay University. He has published 50 peer-reviewed scientific papers in the field of ecology and conservation and authored 13 books.
