Dr. Rajeev K. Srivastava



Dr. Rajeev K. Srivastava (Tamilnadu, 1985) pursued his higher education from Lucknow University and Delhi University.  He obtained his Ph.D. in Forest Fire (Forestry) from the Deemed University, FRI-Dehra-Dun. He has served in various headship volumes in the Indian Forest Service for more than 32 years. He has intensively served in Government of Tamil Nadu and in the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India. Presently, he is the Chief Conservator of Forests and Joint Managing Director at TANTEA, Coonoor, Ooty and also Executive Director/ Chairman, SWIFT, Coimbatore.

During the continuous span of his service, he exclusively designed and fabricated Forest Fire fighting tools and developed Forest Fire Disaster Management Centre (Mudumalai Model).  As a Course Director, he has taken initiative to start various courses like Nursery and Plantation Technology, High-Tech Nursery and Plantation Technology and Non-Wood Forest Products at Forest Research Institute (FRI), Dehradun.  He has provided his guide-ship to 4 students for their doctorate program. For the wit and experience in his discipline, Dr Srivastava is a visiting faculty for several prestigious institutions like WII, IGNFA, ASCI and many more.

He has authored several books on environment, medicinal plants, forest seeds, wildlife and forest management plans besides presenting national and international papers at various forums and conferences. He was Honorary Editor of Indian Forester from September 2003 to April 2007. During that period, his contribution was acknowledged by then Honourable President of India Sri Abdul Kalam. He has also been the honorary editor for the Journal of Forestry in Asia “The Indian Forester”, authored several books and published up to 55 papers.

A resource person for several projects, he has been the Assistant Director-General for ICFRE and has also worked on the World Bank Projects. He is the recipient of several awards such as the reputed Bagh Mitra Award, Chaturvedi Award for Wildlife; two-time NTCA Awardee, the ICFRE Award for excellence in Biodiversity conservation and SKOCH award for the Poverty reduction and Gender Equality.
