DR REX ARUNRAJ



Dr Rex Arunraj has completed his post graduation on Biotechnology and continued his doctorate program on Genetic Engineering from SRM Institute of Science and Technology. Obtaining which he joined as professor at Loyola College and later as Associate professor at SRM Institute of Science and Technology till date. He has served as Co-Principal Investigator for the project ‘DNA Barcoding of Medicinal Plants appeared in Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia of India’ funded by AYUSH and principal investigator of ‘Molecular cloning and characterization of genes involved in alpha-galactosides break down’ funded by SRM IST and currently heading the project ‘Plant Microorganism association as a model to enhance drought tolerance in crops for agroforestry’ funded by Tamil Nadu Forest Department.

To his expertise he holds a patent on ‘An efficient method for the production of tobacco plants with very low nicotine content’. During the course of time, he has published more than13 research articles, presented at 17 conferences, both national and international. He has guided students for their projects and delivered several guest lectures.
