Centre for Wildlife Forensic Sciences at the Advanced Institute for Wildlife Conservation has been involved into a wide variety of research activities along with resolving wild animal forensic cases through DNA analysis received from the honorable judiciary department across the state of Tamil Nadu. The centre is well equipped with state of art laboratory infrastructure equivalent to international standards and also holds a highly experienced, talented and motivated scientific personnel from the field of Biotechnology. In the recent past, the sample receiving and request to accept the samples for analysis has found to increasing. Hence, the Institute has decided to accept the wild animal samples for species, sex, and individual identification through DNA analysis. Apart from this, the centre also accepts samples for DNA sequencing (Sanger chemistry) and sequencing for Fragment Length Analysis (FLA). It is appropriate that charges are levied to cover the cost of consumables, analysis, etc. incurred by the Institute which will support the self-sustainability of the laboratory. The Institute welcomes various law enforcements agencies, other state forest departments, academic institutions/universities (Government & Private), etc. to use the laboratory testing/analysis facility provided.
